High Resolution Images
The photos and images are all available in high resolution format. To save an image in high resolution format, just click the 'Download' link below the thumbnail image, then click 'Save As' on the image.

Requests for Specific Images
If you require a specific image for your story, please copy the full URL for the web page that contains the image, and send it to gmillar@brightsolid.com. As the images in the archive are of large-size newspaper pages, please also try to say where on the page your image is located - e.g. third column, fourth paragraph, etc. This will help us to locate the newspaper image quickly and to email out the relevant section of the image to you. If it's possble, please also briefly say which image/story you require - e.g. illustration of Queen Victoria, story on Florence Nightingale, etc.

If you don't have the URL, you can also request an image by stating the name of the newspaper, the date of publication, and the page number.

Copyright Notices for Newspaper Images and Photos
For the images of the old newspapers themselves, the copyright notice you use will depend on the year of the publication. As most of the newspaper images for the launch will be earlier than 1 January 1904 , this is the copyright notice that you will need to use:

'Image © THE BRITISH LIBRARY BOARD. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.'

If you plan to use any of the photos of the scanning/digitsation team and of the archives at the Colindale Library, then please include this copyright notice:

'Photograph © Chris Close.'
